About Me

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the District of Columbia, originally from Louisville, KY. I have 7 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples seeking help with individual, family, and relationship issues. My clinical practices are rooted in models of systemic, relational, collaborative, client-centered, strength-based, behavioral, and expressive approaches.

I have experience providing intensive home, school, and community-based psychotherapy and case management services to families with children and pre-adolescents, and individuals. I have advocated for child clients by collaborating with school social workers, teachers and parents to develop an integrative framework and coordinate care for each child’s case. I have years of experience working with LGBTQIA+ individuals, couples and families.

Approach

I work to provide warm and welcoming care that is always flexible and understanding to the needs of every unique individual, family, and couple I work with. By valuing the clinical relationship, that guides my therapeutic style. My therapeutic relationships are founded on a space free of judgment, a calming atmosphere, genuine compassion, and warmth that I believe radiates throughout my work. It is important that I meet every individual where they are in life and work alongside you to help you feel empowered to meet your desired goals. Additionally, I bring a humility and desire to learn how each client and client system functions in a way that is uniquely their own.

During my practicum training, I was trained in utilizing Integrative Systemic Therapy (IST) to assess and treat individuals, couples, and families presenting with different concerns from a culturally informed and diverse lens. IST is a solution-focused theory that looks at the socio-emotional frameworks at play within an individual or upon a system to provide a targeted approach that is unique to each individual’s treatment. Working with couples, my approach is informed by Gottman theory techniques and emotion-focused techniques, which I use to support couples in enhancing communication and strengthening their relationship.

Education

Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Louisville.

Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from The Family Institute at Northwestern University.

In my free time, I love spending time with friends and family, exercising, being outside, watching tv series, trying new restaurants, and shopping.
