About Me

A native of Brooklyn, New York, I  obtained my MSW from New York University's Silver School of Social Work and moved to Washington D.C. five years ago to pursue my clinical and academic career as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. Currently, I am pursuing my  Ph.D. at Howard University's School of Social Work with a focus on maternal health disparities among Black Women.

Education / Training

Currently, I am immersed in my Ph.D. studies at Howard University's School of Social Work. My research focuses on maternal health disparities among Black women, a topic that I am deeply passionate about. Through my work, I aim to shed light on the challenges faced by Black women in maternal healthcare and contribute to the development of solutions that promote equity and better outcomes for this marginalized population.

This journey has been a fulfilling one for me. I have dedicated myself to both the clinical and academic aspects of social work, recognizing the power of merging research and practice to create meaningful change. It is my goal to make a positive impact in the lives of individuals and communities, particularly those who have historically faced systemic barriers and injustices.

I am committed to advancing social justice and promoting health and well-being. By combining my clinical experience with my academic pursuits, I strive to contribute to the field of social work and make a difference in the lives of women and their families.

Approach

I have been fortunate to provide clinical treatment to young children, adolescents, and perinatal patients for the past seven years. It has been a rewarding journey to witness their growth and resilience. My specialization lies in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness, holistic clinical treatment, anxiety reduction, and maternal and birthing anxiety reduction.

In addition to my work in clinical settings, I have also served as a school counselor. This role has allowed me to offer valuable support to children, addressing their mental health concerns and fostering their overall well-being. Collaborating with school staff and families, I strive to create an environment where children can overcome challenges and reach their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.

BIPOC & LGBTQ

I am deeply passionate about supporting the mental health care of all children, adolescents, and perinatal women. In particular, I have a strong interest in providing support to the BIPOC and LGBTQ populations. It is my belief that everyone deserves access to quality mental health care, and I strive to create a safe and inclusive space for all individuals seeking my help.

Throughout my practice, I treat a wide range of issues that my clients may be facing. These include stress, grief, anger management, perinatal depression, menopause symptom reduction, OCD, and various mood disorders. Each individual's journey is unique, and I am dedicated to tailoring my approach to meet their specific needs and goals.

I firmly believe in the importance of providing consistent treatment that promotes wellness, mental health stability, and emotional growth. My aim is to empower my clients to overcome their challenges, build resilience, and find lasting healing.

In this ever-changing world, I stay informed about the latest research, therapeutic techniques, and approaches to best serve my clients. I strive to create a therapeutic alliance built on trust, empathy, and collaboration. Together, we work towards positive change and the realization of their fullest potential.

I am honored to walk alongside my clients on their healing journeys and to play a role in promoting their overall well-being. It is my passion and privilege to contribute to the field of mental health and make a positive impact in the lives of those I have the opportunity to serve.
